Google & Today's Independence Day

Independence Day meant
To me some lighter traffic,
Some music soul and cathartic
Alternating, from the loud speakers and TVs,
And a baby crying next-door.

A day nothing better to do with
Than seeing some clippings,
Those include the usual bonhomie speeches,
And violent scenes from select movies,
All in the name of the event
Even as I was clueless
Why they were there in the first place—
They ignite passion leave alone patriotism.

And then I have to make-do
With those text Messages on the screen
From some eager young lovers to each other,
”I love you, so and so Miss. X, Mr. Y, et al.”
Scroll scratching at the bottom.

But the only solace
Is the doodle from Google
Showing our proud peacock.
