On YouTube, I was listening with interest to a respected government-decorated preacher the other day. He was advising against the devotees wishing for blessings for their worldly wants. He insisted that whoever is above 60 years of age should discard one of their most cherished wishes or desires while visiting temples or praying to gods.
To the above, I left a comment on his post after subscribing to his channel or account because I always love his speeches, except for one point he said as above.
Unfortunately, my comment disappeared from there. Or it might have been posted elsewhere wrongly or under the next episode.
However, I recast my comment here lest he cares to give me his precious response.
“I’m afraid it is why our religion or way of life is becoming unpopular in some pockets due to sanctions or restrictions by the interpreters prescribing to us what exactly we should want or seek from our ever compliant gods. The USP of our temples or deities is that when we pray to or at them, our wishes get automatically fulfilled the soonest, and that is our democratic and unshakable belief or faith. It’s also the power of our conviction that’s made so much easier by our gods as a medium. It’s also due to the power of our prayers, and the stronger they are, the faster and sooner is our wish fulfillment. Of course, our wants or wishes as to what we beseech are spiritual or physical as entreaties. So be it. Nothing wrong with our mundane or base wishes, unlike what you said in underrating them. I respect you, sir, as one of the best preachers or pundits we have who is very much deserved to be honored by our government and that fittingly did so. But, I’m unable to connect to you here at the risk of me likely being called ignorant. Lastly, I may submit that whatever wish we want to shed or get rid of will be fulfilled first and faster only due to the importance we give to it for discarding. So, that is going to work only for cross purposes to our disadvantage, unfortunately. It’s all in our mind that grants our wishes only with our self-help mostly. I will be happy if you have time to read this and explain it, whatever my understanding is. Even otherwise, it’s ok. I am pleased enough to respond to you with my way of speaking my mind spontaneously like this and very humbly too.”
