Elective Vote

 Haibun (failed)

Elective vote

Does downloading electors’ data on the mobile help me in casting my vote? Well, no. The polling venue is right alright. But there are three of them, and I had to run from pillar to post to know where exactly I've to cast my vote. After a while, I realize I was like any other commoner despite I was an excited student of political science in my days and on top of it a desk professor in Political Science for seven years. For that matter,  no less than a PM might face this predicament, and so it's a comforting thought. Then, I philosophized political science textbooks have nothing to do with the ground (booth) realities and realpolitik. Moreover, after having been an advocate on my legs in the high court for a year with or without a brief, I could hardly stand on the same legs now and win the attention of polling staff either, to make a humble plea for leading me to the right ballot box. My variegated career which began as a banker helped me to politely (meaning patiently) wait for whatever fate awaited me. Finally, I see in the exiting crowds a familiar gentleman from our neighboring apartments waving at me triumphantly or pointing his finger stained with that eluding indelible ink.
