Musings on Dutch TV Series Big Brother' s local version: Bigg Boss Telugu, a so-called reality show or say, self-proclaimed game show was finally curtains after its run of 70 days. There was little reality in the show ( a la Bahubali) excepting for realty (real estate) on display (Hear it in their own words, "The show is bringing many firsts to the Telugu entertainment space. It is the most expensive show to ever be created in Telugu television. It has one of the largest sets, with more than 10,000 sq ft area and nearly 750 people working on the project at any given point of time,") and Mr. Tarak, aka Junior NTR, a film hero now turned anchor, equally displaying his characteristic ease and aplomb. Besides him, there is nothing to write home about the show where the majority of contestants are wearisome lot of celebrities apparently without a clue as to what the gameplay is all about with an exception being a particular ebullient lady 'housemate' Hari Teja, IMO as the rest I find are somewhat no-shows at crunch times. She was ultimately 'evicted' as the second losing finalist to Siva Balaji, who was the angry young man from Big Boss reality show,
meaning she stood a third place. The winner deserved merit due to his culinary skills and genuine bad temper according to the majority voters who might have understandably identified his role with some or other character back at their home. Likewise, the runner up must have been identified with by the voting audiences for a member in everyday home playing second fiddle to ignoramuses and thus drawing sympathy.
Bigg Boss Telugu has now seen its first season and I pray its second one, if there is any, would improvise with the right kinds of examples to be set for such a large number of audiences of all ages with regard to standards on the side of morals, etiquette, togetherness, leadership and one-upmanship besides staying power in a cross-sectional society in that showcase of a House where the inmate contestants are isolated from the outside world in various testing and trying conditions to prove their individual mettle while sticking together.
